Central Information
Commission (CIC) was set up under the ambitious Rights to Information Act,
2005. This is a statutory post which is intended to superintend the
implementation of RTI Act as well as hearing any complaints by any individual.
CIC has become one of
the cores of Indian democracy. It has big responsibility of making the Indian
administration transparent.
Central
Information Commission comes under the Ministry of Personnel and Training. This Ministry, which was established in 1970, comes
directly under the ambit of the Prime Minister and a State Minister (currently,
Jitendra Singh) is appointed to manage its day to day affairs.
